The growing demands for environmental management with international standards is a reality for ME Elecmetal in its global operations.
Among the most relevant environmental aspects, the most important in the industry are:
- Circularity: the need to decompress customers' discharge systems and reuse unused materials, along with improving the profitability of the products offered.
- Emissions: developing an energy matrix with a greater presence of renewables.
- Water resource: reducing water use in operations by enhancing recirculation.
- Particulate matter: reducing dust generated in operations.
To this end, ME Elecmetal has developed a series of actions in its operations, as well as continuing to explore others aimed at improving its environmental performance, with a special focus on circularity and emissions.
How does the customer currently solve their problem?
Currently, the customer is defining and integrating international standards into their environmental management, requirements that are permeating their different suppliers.
Some of the international certifications in this area are:
ISO 140001, environmental management
LEED, sustainable construction
Carbon Trust, carbon footprint
B Corporations, among others
Sustainability is part of ME Elecmetal’s history and is at the core of its work.
During 2023, the company formalized the actions it was already undertaking under a sustainability strategy that prioritizes and defines the focus areas through four pillars aimed at anticipating and responding to environmental challenges:
- Elecmetal Seal
- People
- Environment
- Relationships to create value
In the environmental field, ME Elecmetal has defined a work plan with three main focuses:
- Circular economy: development of various products that ensure the circularity of its raw materials.
- Carbon footprint: transition of the energy matrix of its operations, with a greater presence of renewable energies.
- Value chain: expansion of its environmental standards and guidelines to be applied to its suppliers.
Through the implementation of various environmental definitions and certifications, ME Elecmetal seeks to be a strategic ally for all its customers.
On this path, the current stage is the definition of global environmental standards that can be applied in operations in South America, North America, Oceania, Asia, Africa, and China.
“We want to be a strategic ally that adds value to mining processes and other target markets. We know that worldwide, climate change and environmental management are issues all companies are addressing.”
In the different countries, we have observed diverse receptions, but in general, this has translated into long-standing commercial relationships and an evolution of environmental management, aligned with the definitions our own customers make for their operations.
