Based on the needs identified in customers' operations, ME Elecmetal established the Innovation Management several years ago, which drives solution spaces through various activities, such as:
- Internal Innovation Program: periodic innovation talks featuring different speakers who address topics of interest such as robotics, technology, and communications.
- Innovation Spaces: from the work areas, cells coordinate teams that raise initiatives that can generate responses for the projects they are involved in. This creates a project portfolio ranging from initiative design to piloting and execution, alongside impact measurement.
With these and other spaces, as well as management efforts, the importance of innovation in ME Elecmetal South America's business model is made clear, which has yielded visible results. One of these was the multiple recognition by INNOVA Claro, which in its 2024 edition awarded various teams for their contributions to the following initiatives:
- SAG Digital Twin: a platform that groups different tools for prediction, simulation, and operational analysis that diagnose mill performance and enable control strategies for operational stability and production maximization. The solution was co-developed with ECN Automation and is currently offered by ME Elecmetal SA within its package of technological solutions.
- Ore Sorting: a pilot service specialized in separating metallic byproducts, allowing processing of material accumulations from SAG mills, such as spherical balls, steel of other shapes, and rocks with copper and/or magnetite ore, which are accumulated on site.
