1917

Foundation of Compañía Electrometalúrgica S.A.

Compañía Electrometalúrgica S.A. was founded in Chile and installed Latin America’s first electric arc furnace for steel casting. In the same year, Minneapolis Electric Steel Castings (ME) began operations in the United States, marking the origins of what would become ME Elecmetal.
