Can you introduce yourself and your role in the company?
My name is Nicolás Zirotti, Senior Process Engineer Comminution on the ME Elecmetal North America team. I have been in this role for a year, after spending three years on the South America team in Chile as a Technical Commercial Process Engineer.
What attracted you to ME Elecmetal?
I joined ME Elecmetal in 2021. I already knew the company from university, where its reputation as a supplier of liners and grinding balls for mining was well recognized. I was attracted by its vision for growth and expansion, not only in South America but also globally. Additionally, I knew some people who worked here and always received excellent references about the environment and development opportunities. That, combined with my interest in being part of a company in constant evolution, motivated me to apply for the selection process.
How would you describe the culture at ME Elecmetal?
“Innovation and teamwork I would say are fundamental to the culture at ME Elecmetal, and this is reflected in daily life. There is an environment where challenges are approached with an ‘out of the box’ mindset, stepping out of our comfort zone to explore new solutions, always with the goal of adding value and continuously improving.
This mindset applies at all levels, from small day-to-day decisions to major corporate strategies, always with the confidence that making mistakes is part of the learning process. Here there is space to learn, take risks, and take the next step with the support of the team. I have found a group of people with a growth mindset and a constant commitment to teamwork.”
What benefits do you value most about working here?
At ME Elecmetal I especially value the opportunity to work with professionals with great experience and knowledge of the mining industry, who are willing to help and share their knowledge. Here, learning is continuous. This environment has allowed me to grow professionally and continue developing new skills. For those entering this industry, ME Elecmetal offers an ideal space for learning, innovation, and professional growth in the mining world.
Personal anecdotes about teamwork, achievements, or company events.
I started my career in Chile, working in various companies in the country, but it was at ME Elecmetal where I had the opportunity to move to Phoenix, United States. I arrived with my partner, and this has been a great achievement both personally and professionally. One of the biggest challenges has been facing a mining industry with dynamics and requirements different from those in South America. However, this experience has allowed me to broaden my perspective and develop new skills.
How does your team contribute to solving the challenges of the mining industry?
I have seen firsthand how our clients face complex challenges that require high-impact, low-cost solutions. At ME Elecmetal, we tackle these challenges through multidisciplinary teams and a comprehensive view of the problems. My contribution focuses on using analysis tools and simulations to optimize our clients’ most important KPIs. This represents a great challenge, as the mining industry is constantly evolving, and our commitment is to adapt to those changes to offer innovative and efficient solutions.
What excites you most about the future of ME Elecmetal?
What excites me most about ME Elecmetal is its approach to facing the challenges of the future mining industry. The company not only seeks to grow but also to lead the sector’s transformation with innovative solutions. Challenges such as increasing the production of valuable metals, reducing energy consumption in plants, and minimizing the carbon footprint in mineral extraction are key to the future of mining, and ME Elecmetal is committed to them. All these goals undoubtedly provide a space where I can continue learning and developing professionally in a pleasant work environment. Because I value being part of a team that promotes continuous improvement and innovation. ME Elecmetal not only adapts to industry changes but drives them, and I am motivated to be part of this evolution. I want to be part of that story being written, facing our 2030 challenges—how could I not?
