Beyond our Talents: Rossmery Córdova, Commercial Deputy Manager ME Elecmetal Perú — “Where others see limits, I see opportunities”

Can you introduce yourself and explain your role in the company?

I am a mechanical fluids engineer graduated from Universidad Nacional Mayor de San Marcos, Peru, and I am currently the Commercial Deputy Manager at ME Elecmetal in Peru. My professional journey has been marked by challenges, resilience, and a deep conviction that women can also lead with strength and empathy in traditionally male-dominated fields.

Currently, I lead the commercial team with a comprehensive vision: we not only seek sales results but also aim to build long-term relationships with our clients, understand their real pain points, and support them with solutions that make technical, economic, and human sense. Additionally, today I have the pride and responsibility of developing other leaders by delegating, mentoring, and creating opportunities for new voices to grow within the company.

What attracted you to ME Elecmetal?

What initially attracted me was the opportunity to grow in an environment with great potential. When I first encountered ME Elecmetal, there were only four of us in a small office in Peru. But at that time, my boss — who later became a mentor to me — spoke very honestly about the challenges and opportunities the company had in the country. Unlike more established companies, here there was room to build, to propose, to leave a mark. That motivated me.

Also, I was coming from a difficult stage, with over a year without work, having left an important position to seek new directions. But ME Elecmetal gave me a new opportunity and over time, I realized I had found not only a company with vision but also a culture with values I identify with.

How would you describe the culture at ME Elecmetal?

The culture at ME Elecmetal is, for me, one of its greatest strengths. It is a company where closeness is not just rhetoric: it is real. We treat each other with respect and also warmth. There is room for humor, for making mistakes and learning, for sharing. Unlike other experiences I had, here I felt I could be myself without having to harden myself to “fit in” a technical environment.

When I left for a few months to take a position at another company, what I missed most was precisely that: the closeness, the spontaneous collaboration, the way everyone wears the company shirt without that meaning losing their humanity. That’s why I returned. Because ME Elecmetal not only offers you a workplace but a team that truly makes you feel part of it.

What benefits do you value most about working here?

Beyond tangible benefits, such as support for postgraduate studies, what I value most is the trust the company places in us. ME Elecmetal allowed me to grow, make decisions, make mistakes, and keep learning. I felt they believed in me from day one.

I also value the respect with which relationships are managed, the ethics in business, and the human perspective towards people. Here it is understood that we all have personal stories, challenges outside of work, and that is also valued. For me, that is priceless.

Personal anecdotes about teamwork, achievements, or company events:

An anecdote I cherish is my return to ME Elecmetal. After accepting a position at another company, I discovered that a bad work environment can make you doubt even your own ability. It was tough, but when I decided to come back, I called my former boss and his response was immediate: “We are waiting for you with open arms.”

Returning was reconnecting with my purpose, resuming projects I was still passionate about, and above all, feeling valued. That experience reaffirmed to me that talent flourishes in healthy environments. It also confirmed that I had built real bonds with my colleagues. And those are things you don’t forget.

What initially attracted me (to ME Elecmetal) was the opportunity to grow in an environment with great potential (…), here there is room to build, to propose, to leave a mark. That motivated me.

How does your team contribute to solving the challenges of the mining industry?

Our team’s mission is to understand the client from the root. Mining is an industry with enormous technical and logistical challenges, but also human ones. At ME Elecmetal we don’t just sell parts or mechanical solutions: we support processes, design tailored solutions, and respond quickly when conditions change.

We have managed to build a collaborative network with different areas — engineering, production, and planning — that allows us to act comprehensively. We are constantly listening, proposing improvements, and adapting to the sector’s new needs. The key is understanding that the client is not just looking for a supplier: they are looking for an ally.

What excites you most about the future of ME Elecmetal?

I am excited to see how ME Elecmetal continues to grow without losing its essence. We are in constant evolution: expanding our operations, innovating with products with a lower carbon footprint, integrating digitalization as part of our solutions, and increasingly committed to sustainability and diversity.

But what excites me most is seeing how spaces are opening for new generations, for more women in mining, for more leaders with a human vision. And I want to be part of that change. I want to contribute to making ME Elecmetal increasingly representative, more diverse, and more open to the world.
