Can you introduce yourself and your role in the company?
My name is Constanza González and I joined ME Elecmetal about two and a half years ago. Our company has different work areas; I initially joined the International Wear Analysis team within the Early Alert area, which develops digital solutions for clients and provides on-site support for commercial assistance. There, we focus on developing technological solutions that add value to mining processes, facilitating timely decision-making for our clients. Almost four months ago, a new professional growth opportunity arose: I joined the Crushing team as a Sales and Services Engineer. In this role, we work closely with our clients, developing wear components designed and alloyed specifically for each application and location within the crushers.
What attracted you to ME Elecmetal?
I studied Mechanical Engineering at the University of Santiago de Chile and applied to ME Elecmetal shortly after graduating. Even then, I was very interested in learning about the mining world, and the company seemed like an excellent gateway into the industry, especially because of the positive experience shared by former university classmates who already worked here. Was I worried there might be few women? Honestly, no. I studied a mostly male-dominated field, and at ME Elecmetal I have found equitable spaces where I have also learned a lot—firsthand—about one of the most important activities for the Chilean economy. I joined a young team, full of ideas, and with direct connections to colleagues from different parts of the world. It was a process full of learning. Additionally, I was able to continue my studies while working and earned my degree in Industrial Civil Engineering, balancing work and academic responsibilities without difficulty.
How would you describe the culture at ME Elecmetal?
I believe the culture at ME Elecmetal is enriched every day thanks to collaboration, camaraderie, and the conviction with which new ideas are driven forward. After leaving university, I realized that while I had a solid theoretical foundation, I had much to learn practically. When I joined Early Alert, I felt like “I knew nothing,” but I found a team willing to answer all my questions and explain things patiently. That support was key to my development. And when I changed areas, I had a similar experience: I felt free to ask questions without fear, which gave me great confidence. At ME Elecmetal, true teamwork is lived, with a constant drive to go beyond.
What benefits do you value most about working here?
I deeply value being part of an internationally prestigious company. Having worked in different areas has allowed me to understand the mining sector from various perspectives. Here, I have found job stability that also allows me to develop outside of work. At ME Elecmetal, I feel valued as a person, not just as another number. My contributions are recognized, and it is understood that besides being a professional, I have personal goals and passions. I enjoy outdoor life, climbing, yoga, and traveling. This stability is also dynamic: it has opened the possibility to take courses and diplomas and continue growing. I have had the opportunity to get to know the mining world up close, travel, and keep training, which broadens my horizons and future challenges.
Personal anecdotes about teamwork, achievements, or company events.
Every area I have worked in has left me valuable experiences. In Early Alert, I participated in implementing many innovative ideas. It is a very stimulating space where numerous solutions have been developed in a short time. Later, joining the commercial area, specifically the Crushing team, has represented a big step in my career. The workflow here is very dynamic and involves interacting with various areas of the company and many colleagues. I have learned essential communication tools: how to communicate better with people, choose the right words, act quickly. Recently, we participated in the annual commercial meeting, a valuable opportunity to share experiences with sales teams from South America. We know how important it is to stay attentive and close to our clients, and ME Elecmetal provides us with the necessary tools to strengthen our internal and external relationships.

How does your team contribute to solving the challenges of the mining industry?
The hallmark of the Crushing team is being on-site. I, for example, am focused on serving clients in northern Chile. Our way of working is face-to-face, personalized, in person: we seek to understand their processes, their concerns, and become an active part of the solution. Additionally, we are committed to responding to any operational urgency on a daily basis. This approach gains even more value thanks to the support of the team: a group with broad and diverse mining experience, providing a critical and analytical perspective essential for developing effective solutions. In crushing—a key process within mining operations—the ability to react quickly and accurately builds trust and a collaborative environment with our clients.
What excites you most about the future of ME Elecmetal?
I am excited about many things in the future of ME Elecmetal! I believe we are part of a team facing great challenges in the coming years. We are invited to step out of our comfort zone, to explore new markets and clients. I am motivated by the stability within our teams and the enthusiasm with which new challenges are embraced. Ideas are always flowing, and active work is done to advance our goals. I never imagined how much I would grow in these three years: I have collaborated with colleagues from Canada, the United States, Africa, and Russia, among other countries. If I remain consistent, I know I can continue developing my career in different parts of the world. ME Elecmetal has multiple areas and multidisciplinary, collaborative projects, which greatly expands professional growth opportunities.
