Can you introduce yourself and your role in the company?

My name is Constanza Bravo. I was born in Ovalle, in the Coquimbo Region of Chile. I studied Metallurgical Civil Engineering in Valparaíso first, and later in Santiago, at the University of Santiago, where I also completed a master’s degree.

Before joining ME Elecmetal, my idea was to pursue a academic career and continue with a PhD, because I have always been interested in research in the field of materials. However, the opportunity arose to work in research and development within the industry, which for me was a great combination of applied science, technology, and mining.

I have lived in different cities, such as Ovalle, Valparaíso, Santiago, and now Rancagua, and each experience has helped me grow. I also have a little dog named Ary, who has been with me for many years and has been a fundamental part of my life.

One of my biggest hobbies is astronomy: I enjoy reading about it, observing the night sky, learning about constellations, and visiting places where the universe can be better appreciated.

I currently work as a Global Senior R&D Engineer at ME Elecmetal. My work is related to alloy design, technical support for different operations, and the development of solutions for our customers, both internal and external.

What attracted you to ME Elecmetal?

What attracted me most to ME Elecmetal was the possibility of working in research and development within the industry. When I was finishing my master’s degree, I was looking for an opportunity that would allow me to apply my knowledge of materials science to real-world challenges, and ME Elecmetal offered me exactly that.

I was also motivated by the possibility of joining a global team, where research is not limited to the laboratory but is connected to production processes, customers, and solutions for the mining industry. For me, it was a very valuable opportunity because it allowed me to remain connected to research, but from an applied perspective and with a concrete impact on the industry.

How would you describe the culture at ME Elecmetal?

Collaborative, multidisciplinary, and global. In my experience, it is a company where people work with teams from different areas, countries, and cultures, which makes learning constant.

I have had the opportunity to collaborate with people in Chile, Peru, China, and the United States, and that has allowed me to understand metallurgy from different perspectives: from alloy design and the production process to technical evaluation and the final recommendation to the customer.

In addition, I believe that ME Elecmetal has a culture that is strongly oriented toward teamwork and value creation. It is not just about selling a product, but about understanding the customer’s needs, supporting them, and building technical solutions that contribute to their operation.

What benefits do you value the most about working here?

The possibility of working with international teams. ME Elecmetal has allowed me to meet professionals from different countries, cultures, and ways of approaching technical challenges. That has been very enriching, both professionally and personally.

Likewise, I greatly value opportunities for development and learning. Over the years, I have been able to take on more responsibilities, grow within the Research and Development area, travel for work, and participate in relevant technical projects. I never imagined that my work would take me to places like China, the United States, or Peru, and those experiences have broadened my view of the world and industry.

I would also highlight the trust placed in the teams and the possibility of contributing from my technical perspective, as a young professional and as a woman.

Can you share a personal story about teamwork or achievement?

One of the experiences that had the greatest impact on me was a two-month internship in China. I participated in setting up a laboratory and provided technical support to my Chinese colleagues. It was an experience that took me completely out of my comfort zone, especially because of the cultural differences, but at the same time it was very enriching and enjoyable.

Working with a team from another continent, with different customs and ways of communicating, helped me grow a great deal both professionally and personally. I learned that collaboration can overcome cultural barriers when there is a common goal and a willingness to learn from one another.

I would also highlight my relationship with the team in Peru. It has been one of the most enriching professional experiences I have had, because we have built a great deal of trust. There is a strong openness to working together, conducting trials, receiving technical support, and seeking new forms of development. That closeness with the teams is something I value greatly about ME Elecmetal.

How does your team help solve challenges in the mining industry?

Listening to the customer, understanding their needs in the field, and transforming problems into concrete technical solutions. From Research and Development, we seek to connect materials science with the real operation of our customers.

I believe one of ME Elecmetal’s main strengths is our closeness to customers. We do not stop simply selling a product; we go into the field, talk with customers, observe the operation, and seek to understand their gaps and pains. Based on that, we can develop solutions that improve performance, efficiency, safety, and sustainability.

This is closely aligned with ME Elecmetal’s strategy, which seeks to offer comprehensive solutions for more sustainable mining, including innovation, engineering services, and products with a lower environmental impact.

What excites you the most about the future of ME Elecmetal?

I am excited about ME Elecmetal’s global potential. It is a company with a very solid track record, an international presence, and a strong value proposition for the mining industry. I see a very promising future, especially because of its ability to innovate, compete globally, and support customers in their technical and sustainability challenges.

I am also excited that the company is moving forward with more sustainable solutions, such as products with a lower carbon footprint, circularity models, and new technologies for mining. This shows that ME Elecmetal is not only thinking about the present, but also about how to contribute to the future of the industry.

Personally, I would like to continue strengthening my global role by providing technical support to different areas and continue connecting with customers and teams from different countries. I am motivated to contribute new ideas, drawing on my experience, my technical background, and a young and diverse perspective within the company.
